I am a married man, with three boys, living in Leigh. I am a Compliance Officer of a Lloyd’s of London Broker, having joined the industry at the age of 16 as an Office boy. My family are originally from London, and I was born in Benfleet and moved around the Country, as my father was a railwayman. My roots remained in Benfleet and my grandfather took me to see Southend United to play at Roots Hall in 1968, and so started the love affair with the Shrimpers, which remains today. My boy and I hold season tickets in the West Stand and although the excitement of the last few years has gone, I still hold out that this year will be their year!
I came back to Essex in 1974 and into Westborough in 1982, where I bought my first home. I married a local Westcliff girl and we have brought up three growing boys. All my boys were educated in Southend and through that I became a School Governor of a Leigh Primary School more that eleven years ago. In addition, one of my boys is physically disabled, and through his experiences my wife and I have learned at lot about how this effects a family and how you deal with the Authorities and the red tape that comes as well.
Politically, I have been always concerned about community politics and I joined the Liberal party at the age of 16 and then the Liberal Democrats. I joined Westborough Liberals in 1982 and I still have found memories of Monty and Mary Lubel, Jack Palmer and Pat Jack and many other good friends. I was asked to stand for the Liberal Democrats in May 2010 in Westborough, and I was delighted and I was very proud have been given the opportunity to be elected and represent residents of Westborough.
